Raised by Committee Audiobook

It's a wrap!!  After months of delving into the techno world of audiobook creation, I have finally submitted the audio files of 'Raised by Committee' to Audible for their review and approval, prior to release.  What a journey it has been ... from learning what type of equipment I needed, to learning how to use the Audacity recording program, getting accustomed to the sound of my own voice, and so much more. 

The journey actually started over a year ago, standing in line at the check-in counter at Gatwick Airport.  I struck up a conversation with a gentleman who was in the business of promoting audiobooks because, he said, they were the way of the future.  Hmmmm, food for thought ... I had already converted the print version of Raised by Committee into an e-book, so it seemed logical [to me, at least] that I should get on board with the audiobook production.  I did some research and discovered it would cost me thousands of dollars to have someone else do the narration for me, so instead I dove into learning how to do it myself. 

Enter Derek Doepker and his brilliant online course entitled 'Audiobooks Made Easy'.  Well, it wasn't exactly a cakewalk, but fortunately Derek was always there when needed to help resolve any issues.  There were days when my brain felt like it might explode with all the new learning I was cramming into it, so I'd have to put things aside for a few days while I processed what I had learnt so far.  Then, I'd take a deep breath and dive in again, each time getting a little closer to the finish line, until I was finally done.

So now I just have to wait until Audible has reviewed my submission and cleared the way for its release ... so stay tuned!  In the meantime, here's a short sample from the audiobook to whet your appetites.
